Role Overview:
As a Fire and Security Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of fire alarm, security systems, CCTV, access control, and related equipment. You will work directly with clients to deliver high-quality service, ensure systems are fully operational, and comply with relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Commissioning:
- Install and commission a range of fire detection, alarm, and security systems (including CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, and fire alarms).
- Ensure all installations are in compliance with relevant safety regulations, standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Fire Installs: Kentec, C-TEC, Fike & Advanced.
- Intruder Installs: Scantronics, Texecom & Galaxy.
- CCTV Installs: HikVision, Pelco & Hanwha.
- Access Control: Paxton & 2N.
Maintenance & Servicing:
- Carry out regular servicing and maintenance on fire and security systems, including diagnosing faults, troubleshooting, and replacing components as required.
- Ensure systems are operational and compliant with relevant health and safety and insurance requirements.
Testing & Inspections:
- Conduct system tests, inspections, and functional checks to ensure systems are working correctly.
- Provide detailed reports on findings, including recommendations for upgrades or repairs.
Customer Interaction:
- Liaise with clients to assess their fire and security needs and offer appropriate solutions.
- Provide technical support and training to customers on system operations.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain strong relationships.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all installations, service visits, and inspections.
- Complete service reports, fault logs, and compliance documentation promptly and thoroughly.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of fire and security systems, including fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms, access control, fire extinguishers and related technologies.
- Experience in installing, commissioning, servicing, and maintaining fire and security systems.
Certifications:
- Ideally, you will hold relevant industry certifications such as FIA (Fire Industry Association), ECS (Electrical Competence Scheme), SSAIB, NSI, BAFE or equivalent.
- BS5839, EN50131, and other relevant certifications would be advantageous.
- Extinguisher servicing and maintenance qualified.
Problem-Solving:
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve technical issues efficiently.
Attention to Detail:
- High attention to detail and quality to ensure installations and maintenance meet regulatory standards.
Customer-Focused:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Professional attitude and commitment to delivering high standards of customer service.
Full UK Driving License:
- A clean, full UK driving license is required as this role involves travel to client sites.
