Location: London

My client, a London-based insurance institution, is seeking a Penetration Tester to join their expanding team. This role requires up to two days per week in the office.

About the Role:
This position sits within the broader Assurance team of the Cyber and Operational Resilience department.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct cybersecurity assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of security controls, incident response plans, and defense strategies.
Review and analyze existing cybersecurity policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, best practices, and industry standards.
Scope and manage penetration testing engagements, identifying vulnerabilities, threats, and risks that could impact data security and operational stability.
Collaborate with internal teams—including Audit, Risk, Policy & Governance, and Compliance—to establish robust security guidelines and best practices.

Required Experience:
Extensive hands-on experience working within a mid-sized cybersecurity team, defining secure baselines, and validating cloud security controls and processes.
Proven ability to work across multiple security domains with a strong understanding of security best practices.
Experience developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and guidelines to safeguard information systems, networks, and data.
Strong background in conducting audits, performing risk assessments, documenting findings, and providing well-founded recommendations to management.

Essential Skills & Competencies:
Solid understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and regulations (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, CIS).
Expertise in cybersecurity risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and managing end-to-end penetration testing engagements, including post-incident analysis.
Strong knowledge of network and system architecture, cybersecurity technologies, and best practices for securing financial data.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify vulnerabilities, assess complex threats, and recommend mitigation strategies.
Ability to produce clear and concise cybersecurity reports, deliver impactful presentations, and create well-structured security procedures and standards.
Strong communication and influencing skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
