Are you a Software Engineer looking to accelerate your career? We have an opportunity for you to join a fast-growing team as part of the pioneering development of out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.

What will you do?
Use your C programming skills to produce low-level and high-level software through all phases of the development process.
Contribute to key projects including Linux-based single-board computers and high-reliability microcontroller systems.

As a proactive programmer with a problem-solving mindset, you will be responsible for software designs from concept through production, including product roadmaps, block diagrams, detailed design and coding, analysis, test, qualification, and in-orbit support.
You will already have development experience at nearly every level of the software stack, including microcontrollers, low-level drivers, board support packages (BSP), end-use applications, and user interfaces.

As a Senior Software Embedded Engineer, you will be involved in the designing, coding, testing, and debugging (mostly in C). You will also be reviewing code and analysing code for efficiency & stability. Integrating and validating new product designs is an important part of the role and you will be expected to interface with design and development engineers.

Skills and Experience
Happy to be part of a small team that’s about to grow exponentially, you need to have a number of years of software development and troubleshooting under your belt already.
Programming experience in C is essential.
Knowledge of real-time system coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces and hardware subsystems.
Experience with real-time Linux is desirable.

Job Description
Belcan Workforce Solutions is seeking a Mechanical CAD Engineer to join our client near Reading. This 6-month position, with potential for extension, offers potential hybrid working and is inside IR35. Candidates must meet UK Security Clearance criteria; unfortunately, dual nationals are not eligible.

Role Overview: The Mechanical CAD Engineer will support CAD, BIM, Surveying, Compliance, Data Analytics, Handover & Tooling. Reporting to the Process Plant & Equipment (PP&E) Manager or Project Manager, the role involves utilising Autodesk Inventor for design and CAD support, presenting designs at reviews, and managing models with Autodesk Vault.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the quality and detail of Mechanical CAD information produced meets client standards.
Follow approved processes for integrating record information into a configured baseline.
Organise models, parts, and data using hierarchical assembly structures, ensuring consistency.
Deliver project outputs and integrate modelling information effectively.
Collaborate with project resources to identify solutions to issues concerning working model datasets.
Stay updated with the latest technologies in model/drawing production and verification.

Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent formal training.
Advanced knowledge of CAD techniques, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
Understanding of manufacturing techniques, hierarchical assembly data, and PLM.
Familiarity with common data environments and Electronic Data Management Systems like Autodesk Vault and Teamcenter.
Ability to engage with stakeholders, collate relevant information, and present data effectively.
Willingness to complete security clearance, potentially up to DV level.

Technical Skills:
Proven product design experience, especially in production support areas.
Practical experience with machine tools, production activities, and processes.
Knowledge of pressure systems, piping systems, electrical systems, and cabling.
Competence in writing technical reports and presenting technical information clearly.
Ability to manage time effectively, work under pressure, and collaborate within a team.
Professional demeanour, self-motivated, and able to lead by example.

As a principal engineer, you’ll own hardware designs from concept to production. Think product roadmaps, block diagrams, PCB layouts, and in-orbit support and you can share your expertise with the team, serving as a technical and professional mentor.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

9 years of industry or research experience in power electronics design, analysis, and troubleshooting.

Proficiency in Altium and PCB layout for power circuits.
