Job Description

Job Title: Automation Engineer Consultant Role Summary: Freelance/Contract role delivering automation solutions using Ignition platforms, focusing on system configuration, integration, and cross-functional collaboration. Expectations: Independent consultant with expertise in automation engineering, capable of working remotely with periodic onsite presence in Glasgow. Key Responsibilities: - Configure,install, and manage Ignition gateways, including modules, OPC connections, and database integration. - Connect Ignition to PLCs, vision systems, databases, and file repositories. - Design HMI/SCADA interfaces, dashboards, and reports using Ignition’s Perspective module. - Implement real-time data collection and historical analysis from manufacturing equipment. - Collaborate with business, production, IT, and engineering teams to align technical solutions with requirements. - Troubleshoot Ignition system, data connectivity, and application performance issues. - Develop technical documentation (design specs, user manuals, SOPs). Required Skills: - BSc or higher in engineering, computer science, or technical field. - Thorough experience with inductive automation Ignition platforms, HMI/SCADA systems. - Strong proficiency in front-end development principles. - Understanding of UI/UX design methods a plus. - Knowledge of industrial protocols and relational databases. - Stakeholder engagement and collaboration competencies. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in engineering, computer science, or equivalent technical discipline.
