Interim Senior Financial Accountant
Insurance Company - London
£450 per day
London based (hybrid working). Immediate start for initial 8 week contract
Job Purpose:
Support the finance team during the year-end audit process by assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, schedules and other support where needed in the preparation of the financial statements under FRS 102 and 103.
To support the finance team with the monthly financial reporting process and ad-hoc accounting projects.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, schedules and notes to ensure the monthly and annual account represent a true and fair view of the business performance.
Perform analytical review of balance sheet items to ensure business performance is appropriately reflected in the Consolidated and subsidiaries financial statements
Preparation and maintenance of monthly accruals and prepayments
Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts for P&L, balance sheet and cash flows including month on month movement commentary on key movements
Assisting with the preparation of annual financial statements including statement notes
Investigation of reconciliation deficiencies, ensuring appropriate escalation and business engagement is achieved
Assist the Group auditors to ensure that the year-end audit process runs smoothly
Maintain excellent working knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 103 accounting policies
Preparation of accounting memos and discussion papers relating to group accounting treatment
Adherence to the Group accounting policies
Support activities within the finance team as required
Ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards / regulations at all times
Job Specific Competencies:
Experience
5+ years post qualified accounting experience
Proficiency in FRS 102 and FRS 103 accounting and reporting pronouncements
Experience in an accounting function or audit experience
Previous experience in a regulated group, financial services (desirable)
Previous experience using NetSuite (desirable)
Experience of utilising Power Query and Power BI would be an advantage.
Skills
A high level of oral and written communication skills, communicating effectively with senior managers, colleagues, internal and external stakeholders
Proficient in Microsoft applications
Strong mathematical, analytical, communication, and organization skills
Strong analytical skills and ability to drive process improvement, based upon analysis of data

Knowledge
Qualified accountant ACCA / ACA or CIMA
Knowledge of Power Query and Power BI would be an advantage.

- On behalf of the Met Office, we are looking for a Full Stack Developer (Inside IR35) for a 3 Month contract based REMOTELY. SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position, (and speed at which we require a postholder in situ), preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance. Developer for climate data quality control system interface The developer will be tasked with improvement and possible redesign of the legacy web-based user interface currently used by the Met Office for data quality assurance for international weather station data. The existing user interface is web based and written in a combination of HTML, SQL, Perl, CSS and Shell script, with code managed on GitHub. The role is essentially to convert current code to Python. Functionality required includes but is not limited to: * Retrieval of monthly weather station statistics and precomputed quality flags that are stored in an existing Oracle database. * An interface for providing previously computed automated data quality assurance checks to a user to inform quality assurance decisions. * Plotting maps of the retrieved monthly weather station statistics and quality flags to allow visual inspection by a user. * Plotting time series of the monthly weather station statistics to aid the user’s quality assurance decisions. The developer will work alongside scientist users of the quality assurance system to understand their needs and will work to improve the users’ quality assurance workflow. The new user interface should be developed with an aim to maintainability by its users. These users are scientists with some coding background, typically in Python, or scientific software engineers, but are not experienced web developers. The system should be developed with this need for maintainability in mind and needs to include documentation to allow future maintenance.
