Laing O'Rourke (Expanded) are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to work our Advanced Reinforcement Manufacturing Facility, in Avonmouth (Bristol)
Known terms: Site Agent / Project Manager
The Expanded Group provides total capability in the early construction phases of major projects, providing an end-to-end solution or a bespoke choice of services. Backed by a central technical design and engineering resource, we can deliver the full range of piling, precast concrete, post-tensioning and structures techniques.
Role & Responsibilities
Able to utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information to create Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets. Confidence to show other team members.
Fully implements and ensures compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary works procedure on projects. Explains these procedures to others.
Determine the most appropriate methods of dimensional control taking advice from specialists where appropriate. Ensure setting out data is controlled.
Can interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
Determine requirement for and format of as-built surveys and reports. Defines scope of survey to demonstrate compliance.
Produces and/ or ensures that ITP's are produced, available and implemented. Ensures that they fully address specification and contractual obligations.
Ensures that project and company quality procedures are adhered
Utilise and recommend best engineering methods
Design process knowledge
Produces and approves method statements and risk assessments
Procurement
Management of a team of Senior Engineers (project dependant)
Requirements
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering , or an industry recognised technical or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ level 4) plus demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
Circa 8 years' experience in a Civil Engineering capacity
Structures experience
Eligible to work in the UK / valid UK visa

As part of this effort, we would like to build a compelling research demonstration to illustrate the advancements achieved in this space. Technical Context The demo is developed around the following components Frontend: responsible for laying out and rendering a collection of images with their representations, as well as requesting and displaying results from specific models on user-selected images. This will be web-based (designed for both desktop and mobile environments) possibly leveraging more advanced visual web techniques using Canvas / WebGL / etc... Backend: responsible for loading and running the different models as well as serving the collection of images and their representations. This will be developed in Python and be based on an internal platform. The main non-functional requirements of the demo are: Smooth performance (navigation between demos, within the collection of images and browsing the produced results) Ability to work well in network constrained environments (like a crowded conference hall) An early prototype of the demo and a version from an older release are available internally.
